In Formation

In Formation

Beyonce probably has to be the biggest artist of my generation; comparable to the stature of how my parents feel about Michael Jackson.  After the visuals for Lemonade aired on HBO, I immediately purchased tickets for the Formation Tour.  My fiance's bucket list included seeing Beyonce live so I figured let's make this happen. [...]

A look inside BR99

A look inside BR99

Pop-up stores are definitely making a good stint this year in NYC. Bleacher Report teamed up with the owner of Kith, Ronnie Fieg, and hosted one of their own here in Soho called BR99.  There was tons of merchandise from tees, shorts, towels, hats, hoodies, etc.  Some items were branded with 99 for this [...]

Rhythm & Blues

Rhythm & Blues

On last Friday, I was able to see a live performance from Kenneth Whalum at Rockville Live. Shameless to say, I never heard of him until recently when the word spread about the show. It was a very intimate setting; definitely reminded me of a scene out of Love Jones with the rhythmic jazz softly playing in the background while the saxophone echoed as Kenneth played along with his band. The only thing missing was a charming poet and a few finger snaps. I was only able to catch half of the show but from what I did see, this guy is pretty talented and I can't wait to hear more from him in the near future. Check out the video to get a glimpse of what I was able to capture during his performance.

Time for the gala

Time for the gala

I had the pleasure of attending the Manhattan Theater Club Spring Gala on Monday evening at the renowned Cipriani on 42nd.  I heard so many great things about this venue and, after getting invited, I was so anxious to actually get there and see what exactly the night had in store.  I had a [...]

Views

Views

One of the most highly anticipated albums of 2016, Views, has finally arrived and in my opinion, met its expectations. Views is coming from the one and only Drake and to add to the hype of this album, he decided to do several pop-ups before its actual release on 4.29.16.  New York was the location [...]

True to Atlanta

True to Atlanta

I was able to attend Game 1 of the Atlanta Hawks vs Boston Celtics playoff series on Saturday, April 16th.  What made this even better is the fact that the Atlanta Hawks have home court advantage so the series started in my hometown. Whoo hoo! I hadn't been to Philips Arena in quite some time [...]

AirMax Con

Nike hosted AirMax Con during 3/24-3/26 in which they showcased all Air Max and their influence on the sneaker culture and footwear industry over the years.  This was a pretty epic event, especially if you are into sneakers. They were a number of reputable people there including Mr. Flawless, a custom jewelry designer and Matt [...]

Trey Day

There are often times I cannot keep up with all of the things that go on in New York City but when I heard about Trey Songz doing a NYC takeover, I had to get involved.  Last Friday after leaving work I decided to stop by the event where Trey is making an appearance to [...]

Season 3

The debut of Kanye's new line of clothing and album was definitely theatrical and worth the wait for the experience.  I attended the viewing at a theater and was overly surprised at the detail and amazing cinematography throughout the production of the show.  There were special appearances from the renowned Naomi Campbell, Ian Connor and [...]

Trapsoul

Trapsoul

Many may be asking just who is this Bryson Tiller guy?  The one who has pretty much taken over the R&B lane and everyone’s girl in the process.  The melodic tunes over somewhat harder trap beats, for lack of better words, creates a sound that is perfect for today’s genre of music and what we [...]
